FIX–MY–HOME

Because you’re a Jet Club member you won’t need to spend a fortune on unexpected emergency household repairs. For assistance, you can call our helpline and we will provide you with the professional assistance you need within two hours of your call.

  • Service providers are dispatched in the event of electrical and plumbing problems, locksmiths, glaziers or if an essential appliance needs to be repaired.
  • The service provides for three incidents per calendar year or per year from policy inception.
  • This cost includes call-out and first hour labour but excludes costs related to parts.
  • Assistance will be provided in the event of non-emergency repairs; the member will then be liable for costs and must settle directly with the service provider at the time of repair.

Plumbing Emergencies

If you have a plumbing emergency that’s caused a flood or burst pipes, an accredited service provider will be sent to secure the situation for you.

Plumbing Repairs include:

  • Visible burst water connections and pipes
  • Municipal connections inside the property
  • Blocked drains, toilets, baths and sinks
  • Geyser overflow valves (lacto and pressure release)

Plumbing Repairs exclude:

  • Jacuzzis, swimming pools or boreholes
  • Leak detection inspection
  • Repairs not complying with regulated specifications such as SABS or others

Electrical problems

Electrical problems can pose great danger in your home. Get help within 48 hours.

Electrical Repairs include:

  • Distribution boards, circuits, main cables
  • Earth leakage relays
  • Geyser connections, thermostats and elements
  • Plug points causing power failures
  • General house wiring
  • Light fittings or switches causing power failures
  • Lightning strikes on wiring
  • Burnt connections
  • Connections to all electrical motors e.g. electric gate motor
  • Municipal connections inside of the property

  • Electric gates and doors
  • Jacuzzi, swimming pool or borehole pumps

Questions and Answers

Q. When should I phone?
If you have a blocked drain, burst water pipe or a power failure – or you need to get inside your house or get your child out of the house and you have lost your keys, phone within two hours of the incident and Jet Club will come to your rescue!

Q. Can I get a community handyman to fix the problem and then ask Jet Club to refund my money?
No, Jet Club will not be liable for any services that are not obtained through the Jet Club helpline. You will be sent an accredited service provider who is approved by Jet Club.

Q. How many times can I claim for this benefit?
You can get emergency assistance for three home incidents per year. Jet Club will pay the call-out fee and for the first hour of labour to secure the emergency.

Q. Can I claim for old leaking pipes, damaged wires and leaking taps?
It’s important that you maintain plugs, taps and toilets regularly. Jet Club is not liable for fixing old or worn-out parts. The benefit only covers securing home emergencies, not routine maintenance.

Q. Can I claim for any problems at the home of one of my relatives?
No, Jet Club will only pay for problems in the homes of Jet Club members. We will verify the address on our computer system. (NB: Make sure to notify Jet if your address changes, or your claim will not be valid.)

The terms

  • Incidents not attended to on the instruction of an EASA case manager will not be considered after any repair.
  • Emergency repairs outside of the domestic dwelling are not included i.e. office premises, public buildings or outbuildings not attached to the main building etc.
  • A repair incident is considered per service category, e.g. if an electrician is called out to repair a fault on the distribution board, as well as an electrical connection, this is treated as one call out.
  • If an appliance is still under warranty, it will be referred to the manufacturer for repair.
  • The benefit period is one calendar year, and the benefit does not accumulate, but is a maximum amount per incident.
  • Service guarantees vary and will be stated on the service provider’s invoice.
FUNERAL BENEFIT

Jet Club members have access to a Funeral benefit underwritten by Hollard Life a registered FSP. This benefit provides a 3 500.00 cash pay-out should the Jet Club member pass on, and a 1 500.00 cash pay-out should the partner pass on (Pay-out is limited to one legal partner only).

WHO CAN CLAIM?

  • If the main member passes on the following people can claim :
    • Legal partner/ spouse
    • Next of kin i.e. parent, adult child, brother or sister (Note an affidavit confirming relationship is needed for parents and adult child. In addition a letter of authority from the court is needed for brothers & sisters.)
    • Non-direct family must have letter of authority from the court together with estate banking details in order to claim.
  • If the legal partner passes on only the main member (accountholder/policyholder) may claim

HOW TO CLAIM

  • Claim at any Jet or Jet Mart store with the relevant account card.
  • There is a three month waiting period for cover to come into effect (You must be a Jet Club member for 3 consecutive months and have paid 3 consecutive premiums).
  • The account must be up to date at date of incident/death.
  • Claims must be submitted within 12 months of date of death and all legal documentation must be submitted with the claim.
  • Cash payout is within 48 hours of approval of a valid claim and receipt of all valid documentation.
  • The funeral benefit will be paid in the currency of the country that the Jet Club member resides in.
  • Claims will be paid out in the Jet/JetMart store where the claim was initiated.

 

DOCUMENTS NEEDED

  • Certified copy of the death certificate.
  • Certified copies of the deceased’s ID book and the claimant’s ID book.
  • Certified copy of the affidavit with relationship status.
    • Marriage certificate, traditional marriage certificate or affidavit stating the relationship status in the case where surnames are different between married parties or marriage certi­ficates are not available;
  • Non-direct family must have letter of authority from court in order to claim.
  • Police report if death is by unnatural causes.
  • Notification of Death BI 1663 (If applicable).

HIV PREVENTION PROGRAM

As our valued member, if you ever experienced possible HIV exposure and physical or emotional trauma, we will give you the physical and psychological assistance you need.

  • 24-hour access to the Assault and Trauma Helpline.
  • Maximum of three HIV blood tests (per incident) – immediately after the incident, six weeks later and after three months. (Should the test be HIV positive at the time of the first blood test, further testing is not covered)
  • Maximum of three consultations (per incident) with a specialist at accredited medical institutions.
  • If exposure has been established and the member’s HIV status is negative when the incident occurred members have access to
    • A 30-day starter pack of anti-retroviral medication (if HIV blood test is negative at initial testing).
    • A 7-day course of STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) medication.
    • A morning-after pill to prevent pregnancy.
    • 1-year access to HIV management programme.
  • Antiretroviral medication is not effective 72 hours after exposure. These incidents must be reported within 24 to 48 hours.

Teen Advice Careline

Baby Careline

The Baby Medical Assistance Careline is there to give you advice and support in caring for your little ones. Jet Club knows that looking after a baby is a full-time job, and everyone needs help from time to time. Jet Club members can call the helpline for advice on immunisation, baby illnesses, what to do in emergencies or any other aspect of baby care.

  • Includes referrals to specialist services and emergency advice during pregnancy.
  • Gives advice on problems like breastfeeding, diarrhoea, nappy rash, etc. through the Baby Line.
  • Gives advice on problems like fever, burns, chest pain, sleeping problems, etc. through the Child Line.

Bereavement Careline

This service will assist your bereaved family and next of kin with burial arrangement.

The Funeral Support and Assistance benefit comprises the following:

  • Location of the deceased’s whereabouts, if unknown;
  • Advising the bereaved family and referring them to a reputable undertaker, and assisting with the funeral arrangements;
  • Advice on how to apply for a death certificate, and where applicable, the documentation required if the deceased is to be buried outside RSA;
  • Assistance with interpretation of any legal documentation such as the funeral policy and the procedure to be followed;
  • Where a post-mortem is required, assistance with referral to a pathologist;
  • Referral of the bereaved family to counselling services for support and advice.

REPATRIATION OF MORTAL REMAINS

This service will assist your grieving family and next-of-kin with the transportation of your deceased loved one by road or air. Your loved ones would be taken to a funeral home closest to their normal place of residence.

  • Repatriation is arranged when the deceased’s body is more than 100km from their place of residence.
  • Assistance with the necessary documents and coordination with the authorities to transport the deceased’s mortal remains back to the normal area of residence.
  • When family members are required to identify the deceased, 1 night’s accommodation to the value of 50000 is arranged.

TRAUMA & ASSAULT BENEFIT

If you ever experience a traumatic event such as a rape, hi-jacking, child abuse, death or suicide of a close family member, an armed robbery or assault, domestic violence or a kidnapping or abduction, you can contact our emergency call centre for assistance.

  • Access to our 24-hour, 365 days a year Trauma Helpline with qualified trauma counsellors.
  • Emergency transportation to the nearest, most appropriate medical facility if necessary.
  • Cover for Assault includes 5 000 per insured person with a maximum of 10 000 per family per assault incident in respect of medical treatment for bodily injury.
  • Cover for Trauma includes 5 000 per insured person with a maximum of 10 000 per family per trauma incident in respect of psychological consultations.
